Rules

It’s essential that drivers have a stable internet connection with a ping no higher than 160ms (as viewed on the race server). If a driver’s ping is above 160, they may be kicked from the server. To avoid extremely high ping and lag.

Any attempts at cheating will result in a permanent ban.

Qualifying:

A qualifying session will take place to establish the starting grid for the race. During the session, it’s important to show respect towards all drivers. If you’re not on a flying lap, make way for other drivers who are by allowing them to pass.

Race:

It’s important to remember that races are not won on the first lap. Taking unnecessary risks during the early stages of the race can increase the chances of ruining another driver’s race. Therefore, it’s advisable to exercise caution and avoid making any rash moves that could potentially cause accidents or collisions. By doing so, you can increase your chances of success while also demonstrating good sportsmanship towards your fellow drivers.

Overtaking:

When making a pass, it’s the responsibility of the passing driver to do so in a safe and timely manner. Both drivers are responsible for ensuring that a safe pass is made, and failure to do so may result in penalties.

To earn the right to a racing lane while entering a turn, the passing driver must ensure that their front wheels are at least even with the rear wheels of the car they’re passing before the turn-in point. At this stage, the driver being passed must leave a lane open.

Bump-passing, which is defined as nudging the car ahead to make it unstable before passing it, is strictly prohibited. Even if it occurs accidentally, bump-passing may result in penalties unless the offending driver gives back the pass.

Blocking, which is defined as altering the race line more than once in an attempt to prevent a pass, is not allowed for any reason and will result in penalties.

Defending:

  1. The One-Move Rule: When one driver is ahead of another on a straight, they’re allowed to make only one move in one direction, regardless of the speed or size of the move, within the track limits. More than one change of direction on a straight (known as weaving) is not permitted.
  2. Racing Alongside Another Car: When two cars have any parts alongside one another, each driver must respect the space occupied by the other car. It doesn’t matter who is ahead or how far ahead they are – neither driver may initiate a move into the other car, and both have the right to continue driving in a straight line unimpeded.
  3. Entering the Braking Zone: On a straight, a defending driver has the right to make a sudden change of direction, even using the entire track width, if they are fully ahead of the attacking driver. However, sudden changes of direction just before or within the braking zone are not allowed.
  4. Brake Testing: It is not permitted to brake test other drivers, which involves braking suddenly or unexpectedly in front of another car with the intention of causing an accident.

Incidents:

  1. Incident – contact with other driver
  2. Incident points are calculated from single contacts. Maximum incidents per race – 20.
  3. Driver who collects 20 incidents in a race will be DQ from particular current race.
  4. Every session incidents counts individually.
  5. Incidents after the finish doesn’t effect your result, but do effect driver incidents statistic.

Conscious contact:

Intentional conscious contact with another car will be penalized.

Recovery:

  1. If a driver spins while on track, they should immediately lock their brakes until completely stopped, even if they’re still on the track. They should keep the brakes on until they can assess the situation and wait for a clear track to resume. Failing to lock the brakes could cause the car to spin or roll unpredictably and lead to further incidents. If a driver causes an incident while spinning on track without locking their brakes, they will be held responsible for it.
  2. Drivers who go off-track or spin on the track must resume the race in a safe manner. This may involve driving forwards or reversing to a safe area to turn in the direction of travel and then merging safely into the flow of traffic away from the racing line.
  3. If a car becomes permanently badly damaged the driver should manually get back to pits. Teleportation is only allowed when the car is not possible to be driven to the pits.

Flag rules:

  1. Blue Flag: Means that a driver is being lapped, it is their responsibility to assist the passing driver to complete a safe pass.
  2. It is important for drivers being lapped to maintain their current and predictable racing line. Any incidents resulting from changing the racing line unexpectedly may be penalized.
  3. It is not permitted for drivers to create yellow flag zones by remaining stationary on the track or creating hazardous conditions for other drivers.
  4. Drivers must exercise caution under local yellow flag conditions and be prepared to encounter slow, damaged, or stationary cars on the track.

Headlight and horn usage:

Drivers are allowed to flash their headlights – but it must be appropriate. Flashing is not required, and should not be overused.

Pit stop:

  1. Drivers cannot cross the white line entering the pits.
  2. If race pit stop is required, minimum fuel add is 1 liter or tyre change.
  3. Drivers cannot cross the white line exiting the pits.

Track usage:

  1. Drivers must keep a minimum of 2 wheels inside the solid white lines on the race track at all times. Tracks will determine track cuts.
  2. If drivers cut the track or go 4 off, they will need to slow down and give back the time gained or make a penalty which should occur on the top of the screen. If the penalty will not be done until the end of the lap driver will be disqualified.

Driver repots:

One hour after the end of the race, each driver has the right to report a driver who intentionally violates the rules. The reports will be handled by judges. Penalties will be given to offenders if their guilt is proven: a warning/suspension for the first penalty for 7 days, 15 days for the second penalty, and 30 days for the third penalty. If a driver’s bad behavior continues, the cup ends for that driver. If it is necessary to resort to the last penalty three times for the same driver, it will result in a permanent ban from competing in MadRacers.
